About the Program
The Arabic language occupied a distinguished stature among all
languages and dialects of the world that are about 5000.
The Arabic language is one of the oldest living languages that exist nowadays.
• It is one of the most important languages of the Semitic language,
which includes a number of other languages, such as Hebrew.
• It is the native language of about four hundred and twenty million people who are the inhabitants of the Arab world.
• It is the official language of Arab world countries and some other countries.
• It is one of the six official languages ratified by the organization of United Nations.
It can be used to talk and in its various meetings and sessions.
A lot of world's great and prestigious universities have special Departments to study it.
Nowadays and perhaps since the events of the 11th of September 2001, the world is witnessing an increasing demand for learning the Arabic language.
This is reflected in the establishment of Departments at universities to study it in addition to the spread of dozens of educational centers that teach Arabic and give certificates.
This demand for studying Arabic is due to different reasons:
Religious reasons: A great number of foreign students want to learn Arabic because it is the language of the Holy Quran and the noble Prophetic Hadith that are the two main components of doctrine and Sharia in Islam.
Cultural and scientific reasons: Arabic is the language of the Islamic civilization that was the flourished one for a long time. In Arabic, accomplishments of that civilization were written down. Therefore, everyone who would like to conduct a serious, scientific and fair study about this civilization, its achievements and its impact on other civilizations has to learn Arabic, the language of this civilization.
Commercial and economic reasons: The Arab world has great significance in trade movement and economy in current world as for existence of oil resources in its territories and movement of trade between the Arab world and world countries in different continents. Therefore, some foreign students need to learn Arabic to work in the field of translation, in companies and in various economic and commercial institutions.
Political reasons: The Arab world has great political importance because of its distinguished geographical location, its oil resources, its seas and rivers, etc. So, various countries of the world are keen on establishing diplomatic relations with the Arab nations. Thus, the Arabic language gains additional importance and scholars are encouraged to learn Arabic to work in this important diplomatic field.
